Who we are
Ananda Charitable Trust was founded by Kommu Ananda Kumar, who was born into a Christian family in a remote village in southern India, Andhra Pradesh. Ananda grew up in a financially struggling household, facing numerous economic hardships and health challenges. His parents, both dedicated pastors, tirelessly served the Kingdom of God, often traveling long distances on foot. His father, in particular, rode 40 miles per day on a bicycle to preach the Gospel in remote villages.
From a young age, Ananda witnessed the suffering of people around him, inspiring a deep desire to help those in need. However, due to financial and physical limitations, he found himself unable to take action. As a teenager, he worked in various jobs, yet none provided him with a sense of fulfillment or stability. Overwhelmed by failures and family struggles, he attempted suicide at the age of 17. In his darkest moment, God spoke to him through His Word, offering comfort and encouragement. In the years that followed, Ananda faced a life-threatening illness, battling three severe viral infections simultaneously. Doctors gave him no hope of survival. However, in his weakest moment, he once again heard God’s voice, calling him to “Live for Me.”
Determined to dedicate his life to Christ, Ananda began conducting street gospel meetings, personally praying for the sick, and preaching the Gospel to those in distress. God blessed him with numerous spiritual gifts, including the Gift of Prophecy, the Gift of Healing, and the Gift of Discernment. He used these gifts mightily to build the Kingdom of God. Despite his humble financial means, Ananda started engaging in charitable activities, using his own small income to support those in need. Over time, God multiplied his efforts, allowing him to make a significant impact. After six years of dedicated service, he formally registered his charity as a government-recognized, non-profit organization.
Community Programs and Impact
In recent years, Ananda Charitable Trust has initiated several programs aimed at uplifting communities and supporting the underprivileged across Andhra Pradesh. Some of its key initiatives include:
1. Children’s Home – Providing shelter, education, and care for orphaned and underprivileged children.
2. Widows’ Care Program – Offering financial support to over 200 widows every month, ensuring their basic needs are met.
3. Women Empowerment Program – Equipping women with valuable skills through sewing machine training and computer education, enabling them to achieve financial independence.
4. Borewell Projects – Installing borewells in water-scarce areas to provide clean drinking water to underserved communities.
5. Medical Camps – Organizing free health check-ups and medical aid for those who lack access to healthcare services.
6. Disaster Relief Program – Assisting communities affected by natural calamities such as floods, hurricanes, and viral outbreaks by providing food, shelter, and essential supplies.
